THE VINOHRADY MARKET
Prague 2 - Vinohrady
The Vinohrady Market is a historic building from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in Vinohrady, Prague. The town of Kralovske Vinohrady, which was incorporated into Greater Prague in 1922, had a farmer’s market with 100 stalls for the sale of fresh food and wares, where originally a mill machine factory stood. The then-modern building combined brick parts with its roof on a steel lattice structure and was even equipped with air conditioning. The market was closed in the 1980s and unfortunately, the building was burned in 1986. Thanks to the Club for Old Prague, demolition was prevented and the building was declared a cultural monument. In 1995 the Vinohrady market was reconstructed and rebuilt in order to create a luxury shopping centre. The project was awarded the 1st MIPIM AWARDS in Cannes. LOXIA provided comprehensive services of the main architect and general designer from the planning permit documentation to the completion and the occupation permit.
